Native American cultures use smudge sticks during spiritual ceremonies and during healing to remove negative energies and spirits.
White sage is used as a cleansing herb, to purify the mind, body and also to purify the atmosphere and to dispel negativity.
Lavender is also used for cleansing and has powers of protection. Traditionally, lavender has been used in herbal medicine to assist with infectious diseases as well for its soothing effect on the nervous system. Lavender instils a positive energy, opens the heart chakra and calms the mind.

How to use: Hold the tip of the smudge stick over a burning candle (or match); once the tip is on fire, blow out the flame and fan the stick with a feather, smudge wave, or your hands to ‘brush’ it onto or over the area in need of cleansing.
CAUTION: Ensure that the smouldering smudge stick is held over a fire-safe receptacle, such as a smudge bowl or shell; to prevent burning embers to damage surfaces or accidentally set surrounding items on fire.
